About Me

My mother taught me to sew when I was about 12 years old, showing me how to read and cut out garment patterns. That early foundation led me to major in Clothing, Textiles, and Merchandising in college. Once I had children, however, sewing took a back seat for many years.

Around 2013, I began sewing costumes for a local theater group in Rocky Mount, which reignited my love of sewing. When the theater season ended, I considered trying quilting. At first, I wasn’t sure it was the right fit—I’ve never been a perfectionist—but my curiosity won out. With the help of a few friends, a “how-to” book, and some YouTube videos, I discovered a new passion.

I joined the Quilt Guild in 2021, looking for friends and inspiration, and I found both. This group continually teaches me something new and encourages me to keep moving forward. Over time, I’ve learned that I prefer working with simple designs and mosaics rather than small pieces. While I don’t always chase the newest techniques, I deeply enjoy creating traditional quilts that bring comfort and smiles to those who see them.
