The Tar River Piecemakers Quilting Guild (TRPQG) Cutting Corners Quilt Bee welcomes members from the TRPQG Guild. It serves as a space where quilters can share their thoughts, interact with others, and form lasting friendships.
The primary goal of the Bee is to bring together quilters of all skill levels, from beginners to advanced, to quilt and share techniques. Meetings are held at the Braswell Library in the Wiley Room from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. or 1:00 p.m., on the 3rd Friday of each month. All are welcome to join.
Each month, a member leads a demonstration, introducing new techniques, rulers, gadgets, and more. Volunteering is optional. Last Christmas, the Bee partnered with the Busy Bees to make Christmas stockings for the Gardens of Nashville, an assisted living facility. They made more than needed and shared the extras with Autumn Care Nursing Home.
When opportunities arise to help those in need, the Bee is eager to contribute. Whether it’s a quilted mug rug or placemat, these small gestures can bring joy and hope to others. As a group, they created a quilt to be donated to the Veteran Facility in Wilson. Additionally, there is a table where members can share magazines, patterns, and fabric. Each month, members are encouraged to bring their Sew & Tell to share their quilts and the stories behind them.
